Yes. You can set the camera to free run and it will continue to run on each clip. That will be time of day.
I just played with record run and I can’t figure out how it would automatically reset? You can select a timecode preset and reset it, but that’s manual.

So FCP is YUV and AE 7 is RGB from the way I understand it.
So when you go from FCP to AE 7, select the footage and choose interpret footage. At the bottom of the box there is an option that says “Expand ITU-R 601 Luma Levels.” Select that. It should compensate correctly.
I never really figured out how to do it in AE 6.5 but it had something to do with the levels filter.

I guess that I should say that Apple really needs to support it in iMovie and Final Cut Express HD. I don’t see a lot of people using it in FCP, but if they are going to support it in the other two programs, it should find support in FCP, even if it is only transcoding to a different codec.
I will admit that I was a little over exuberant in saying way behind the game in the pro market, but in the consumer market it’s a feature that really needs to be out there. Because of that, I think it will find it’s way into FCP around the same time.

I don’t understand your question. Could you explain it again?

I agree that dual monitors is a lot better than just one big monitor. I do a lot of work with two 20″ Apple displays and I like to have my timeline on one display (yes, it’s a big timeline) and everything else on the other.
If i were buying new monitors I’d go with monitors that have HD resolution (1920×1080). It give you a lot of options without being too crazy. It will be really cool when “Spaces” comes out with Leopard.

Thanks Gary for pointing out that having true 60P footage (has no redundant frames) is required for the Cinema Tools conform to slow down footage and it is completely different from the Frame Rate Convertor.
We wouldn’t want people to get the wrong idea and try to turn 24P (60P with redundant frames) into slow motion using either of the Frame Rate Convertor or Cinema tools. Obviously that would be silliness.

While extremely difficult, I’ve had the best luck using two different methods.
First, build the text in photoshop and then scroll the file in Final Cut Pro. Go slow though!!!!
Second, using After Effects 7. We did a test and AE7 looked a lot better than AE6.5 for some reason. Go slow though.
Even with these methods, you still really need to work it.
In general, I completely avoid FCP titles for all but the simplest things. In my opinion, AE or Motion do a superior job.
