    Are you having a laugh?

this is just an annoying bug in FCP.

I suspect it may be permissions related but it has nothing to do with the frequency of access.

  • So,is the answer that the only way to get a true 24fps edit to tape when working at SD 625 with 24fps film is to output to tape via firewire using System Settings/Playback Control/Pulldown Patteern/24@25 ?

If you try to output via Decklink or AJA you get stuttering when playing a true speed 24fps ETT to 25fps tape.

I guess the answer is to telecine to HD and capture DVCProHD or MotionJPEG @24fps and stay at 24fps all the way or get the rushes telecined to 30NDF digibeta and follow an NTSC SD workflow

Out of interest Bob, what benefit do you think there is to be gained going digital from the deck to the NLE over going analogue for a very short, balanced, cable run?

I know non-engineers and “creative” people get unnecessarily obsessed by digital because it is “better”, but you know better than that.

On the whole progressive and partially segmented frame formats are referred to by their frames and interlaced formats are referred to by the number of fields involved.

    Hence
    1080p/23.976
    1080p/24 —————— 1080i/48
    1080p/25 —————— 1080i/50
    1080p/29.97 ————–1080i/59.94
    1080p/30 —————— 1080i/60

Not sure quite if this is what you are after but the Leitch VelocityQ editor and the Quattrus card will allow you to stream your timeline as WM9 as you are playing it. I could never find a real use for it but it was a great demo 🙂

Perhaps you have found a use for it?

The other way to go would be to pop the DV output of the Avid Xpress into another PC and run Windows Media Encoder on it and stream it that way

    https://www.ecinemasys.com/products/dcm23/dcm23_intro.htm

But it will be more than 6,600 I am afraid.

There is also https://www.rossvideo.com/gearlite/dac9213pvm.html which costs $1,395 and would allow you to repurpose an old SD CRT…

August 10, 2005 at 11:46 pm in reply to: SATA Oddity – can anyone confirm?

Well, we hooked the G5 onto a Terrablock and all works well uder FCP 5.02 and Tiger etc. I guess that points to the Seritek or the SATA drives. Odd that they work fine with FCP 4.5 and Panther.

Being a reseller really sucks some days…
