Guess not. I’ll just talk to myself as per usual.

Any ideas are welcome. Even the crazy ones!

June 2, 2014 at 8:37 pm in reply to: Need advice on Secondary recording and mic optionsI have to agree with Ty on this one. There is NO good option that doesn’t require someone’s full attention. I make a lot of money trying to fix recording that were done just as you are describing.
That being said there are some things you can do to minimize your situation. Two sources always as Bill stated. I would run a couple of Lavs into a Zoom H4n or something and booms on thos tripods if they are close enough.
Check the levels after the first take! Listen back with a good pair of headphones and make sure everything is okay before proceeding.
Check levels and listen back every time you get a chance. Any short breaks between takes. Whatever. Don’t waste a second. Seriousy, use good full coverage headphones for checking audio in the field. You can’t tell anything with earbuds outside. Keep an eye on the mics and the talent. Make sure the mics don’t move. Make sure the talent isn’t looking away too much or the Lavs will fade badly. Make sure the talent isn’t touching the mic or their shirt or their chest. Snyc pops before every take will be a blessing later. (Or Pluraleyes)
And finally, seriously, check levels and listen back every chance you get!
Good luck! -
I was having this issue also. I finally got it to work doing the following. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro (Free version won’t remove everything)to uninstall Vegas 32bit and 64bit in ‘moderate’ mode.
Then Restarted machine.
Then used Glary utilities (free) to fix any registry errors.
Checked the Program files folders for any leftover Vegas files to delete.Restarted again.
Reinstalled Vegas and everything worked.
Any other combination or sequence I tried wouldn’t work.
Strangely Vegas still had all of my preferences set correctly.
Good luck!

Same here. 64bit version opens fine. 32bit version spins for about a second and then nothing. 64bit Windows 7 Pro. i7 quad processor.

Canon 7D.
Looking for a common output for commercials that TV stations will accept. -
I agree. Without a decent Mic Pre/Interface it’s kind of a get-what-you-pay-for situation. However the AT 2020 and also the Blue Snowball both give decent results for being USB mics.
You could get something like the M-Audio Fasttrack and an M-Audio Nova Microphone for around $200 and be in better shape though. -
This has happened on two of our machines now. If you watch the task manager you can see the Vegas process start and them immediately stop. Sound forge still works fine. I even tried “completely” uninstalling all Sony products and all plugins, cleaning and deleting registry entries and reinstalling but to no avail. The only solution was to format and reinstall Windows 7. This happened once before SP1 and once after so I don’t think that’s the issue. I just hope it doesn’t happen on a day with a very important client.

This has now happened on a second machine. The only way I was able to fix it last time was a complete rebuild. And yes this is a registered copy of Vegas Pro 10. We have several licenses.
