Commercial Broadcast Levels
Hello all, I am getting ready to bounce a commercial via FCP 7 for television broadcast. The commercial has music and voice-over. I was wondering what the ideal peak level for television broadcast would be for the audio. I was always taught in school to not mix any higher than 6-12 db. Have standards changed? If someone could give me some insight it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Loudness is now specified under the CALM act, here’s a page which links to information you need to know about https://www.qualisaudio.com/calm_act_loudness.htm
There are several software and hardware meters available. I’d never rely on FCP’s metering for anything for broadcast.
