    Cheers Ian.

I’ll try out your suggestions. I think they will work for the frame of the wings. If Im using Glow I should make sure the wings frame are white so I can get maxium brightness?

    Thanks again

    Hi Ditha

Have you checked the Scene Detect box in the lower part of the capture window? Also I like to tick the: Capture with handles box after you have right clicked to batch capture in your project bin. I normally put 12 frame handles. Also I found that if your timecode is not consistent the capture will stop itself.

Anyway hope this helps and good luck with the capturing.

    Hows it going Alan?

I have to say I never really noticed what your talking about until I tried it myself but I see what you mean. It seems thats if you move the clip too fast off the screen the timeline doesn’t go with you but if you sort of edge the clip off the screen the timeline follows and then you can pick up speed.

I have to say however I find Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C and Ctrl,Shift + V much better ways of moving clips around. Anotherr handy trick is if you want to put a clip in between two clips hold down Ctrl and you will see a dotted line with arrows and you can then drop your clip in between other clips. Oh and if you press the \ key your timeline automatically zooms out to show you everything on it.

    Hows it going Vincent?

My friend has shot other rates as well for the sequence so it all starting to get more complicated 🙁 but not to worry because they are 25 and 50 so not too much to worry about there. The rest of the footage was shot 25P as well.

I’ll give your suggestion a go and see how I get on. I got a few ideas from the AE forum as well so Im going to try everything out before I talk to the director.

    Thanks again man.

    Cheers for the advise lads.

The footage was shot in 38 frames intentionally. My friend has other frames rates as well (50 & 25) for the sequence so it hard getting my head around it but I will defiantly give your suggestions a try and let you know how I got on (Monday)

    Thanks again, much appreciated.

    Hows it going Eric?

Yeah that would be great if you could? Cheers man. I’ve heard about AutoHotKey but never got a chance to have a good old look at it.

Take it easy man and best of luck with the edit and script.

I think Perry that Jon is right on the money here and his tutorial will be a far better explanation than if I try to explain it in text.

As far as know what Jon explained is how Lucas films did keying for the Star Wars films ( which might look dated now but is a great way to key)

I myself look forward to your tutorial Jon

It seems to me Prime Mover that in time it takes you to complain about what PP can’t do you would have loaded the other apps and done the work needed. Jon asked about soundbooth becase you can render and replace files straight into PP.Maybe instead of attacking somebody that trying to help you, you should hear what they have to say.

As for the greenscreen. I recently had to key 100 interviews for an award night and I had didn’t have AE on the laptop so I spent my time getting the best key I possibly could in PP (which turned out to be damn good) when I was happy with the key I saved it as a preset and used it for the other 99 interviews (altering it slightly when needed).

There are always ways around problems if you work on them.

Im affraid Eric that in all my time working on PP I have never found such a way (If you ever find a way please let me know). If I know that I am going to have a lot of audio clips in the end edit I normalise them as I go.

If this does not appeal to you then there are one or two ways around it (but even still they will take time). 1. If you put all your audio clips onto the same track you can go to your audio mixer and select your track, pull down the read tab and click the ‘write’ option. This will allow you to push the fader up and down, so you can normalise your audio by ear but be warned it is very time consuming and at times not a very exact science which leads me onto option 2(You will need to have the CS3 package however). Again put all your audio onto the same track and solo it. export a master comp of the audio and bring it back into your project. Add this master to a new track and sync it up (should not be too hard). When the audio is in sync right click on your master track and you will see an option to ‘Edit in Soundbooth’, here choose the ‘render and replace’ option. This will launch soundbooth. There are many normalising presets and filters in soundbooth that will do a much better job than PP. Again to get it perfect you should spend a bit of time on it (if your audio was recorded on the same device and time than it will be easier for you). I would recomend option 2 (depend on the version you use) or pay the price for a lesson learned and individually normalise.

Hope this was some help. Good luck

December 6, 2007 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Handle bars on mask have disappeared

I have tried this and it still doesn’t show me the handle bars. I have been working in AE for over a month now and when I started the handle bars were showing up. When I click and drag I use to be able to see them but now they don’t show up?

If it’s for free, it’s for me
