I shot on the HVX200 NTSC version at 720p/24 and used the raylight MXF codec for vegas.

    anybody please

  • no you cant. you have to render your movie file before importing into vegas. You can use AAF to go from AE to Vegas, but that wouldnt make sense since effects/motion tracking etc. would not come in.

i see ok. Good point. i guess i can use pretty much any low res for the editing. i guess i was a little greedy:)

im guessing though that for 2k CCing, thats when AJA or BM would come in handy?

I sometimes fit 3 hours on DVD, here’s how:

-render the project in vegas as mpeg 2 at 7000 and AC-3 audio stereo
-make the dvd architect project and make a prep folder (sometimes its huge like 9GB)
-use DVD shrink and set it to two pass, make an ISO file.
    -burn it using nero

Export out of vegas using AAF, it will come perfectly into AE, then apply your FX, etc. to the individual clips. But once your done you have to render as a movie file preferably uncompressed AVI. Works like a charm everytime.

thanks again TY. Good info there. What would a person lose by going directly into the recorder if using one boom, and bypassing the mixer all together? the 702 has good limiters

January 24, 2008 at 1:24 am in reply to: 302 into Camera

first of all, i would like to thank everyone especially TY who spent time on the phone teaching me about the 302 more than the manual. second, i finally got it, but one problem, i dont know how it worked!

it just basically worked, mysteriously, i did nothing different
the mic came into the mixer at mic level and 48phantom, the pots are at tweleve oclock and used the trim function to get a good read out. 0db on the mixer and -20 tone on the camera, LINE level into the camera, and finally, i did a test recording, and its beautiful. for some weird, out of this world, unexplained reason, i had the pots all the way up and was barely getting level over -20. I’m weirded out, but its working fine now.

    thanks again TY
