What should the bit rate settings “high, average, etc.” be to burn two hours of video on one DVD. I’m using AC-3 for my audio.

    Thanks,

Here’s what my bitrate calculator says (note: this links to a zipped file):

    CBR: 4500

    VBR: 8000 / 4500 / 2700

Add three more zeros to each number.
    All numbers are rounded down.

I just successfully completed a 1 hour 52 minute DVD-5 and used a CBR of 4944 and the client loved it. I was surprised it looked so good at that rate, I don’t usually try to squeeze that much video on a DVD-5.

I sometimes fit 3 hours on DVD, here’s how:

-render the project in vegas as mpeg 2 at 7000 and AC-3 audio stereo
-make the dvd architect project and make a prep folder (sometimes its huge like 9GB)
-use DVD shrink and set it to two pass, make an ISO file.
    -burn it using nero
