Points are taken minus the idiot part as most pros started as idiots.
Anyways, i considered the format before shooting and wanted more res in the 1080P mode, the DP suggested shooting at 60P but after we shot a few slow motion shots.I’ve seen wonderful footage slowed down, i will check out twixtor.
But this idiot shot a backup plan, and asked myself the question on set, that if the “slow mo” wont look good, then to use plan B in which we shoot alternate shots that still have an impact without being slowed down.

I went from the DVX100 to the HVX200 and then to the “A”. The camera as mentioned is not known for DOF. Through certain workarounds like opening the iris, subject to camera distance, and focal length you can get that certain look.But it is hard with 1/3 inch cameras.
As far as dynamic range, the cinegamma setting helps to achieve that look but of course it doesnt mean it has a very dynamic range in terms of stops.
Im currently shooting a feature film on the “A” model and have been very pleased.

1. Focal length: say you move far from the subject and zoom in, you will be able to achieve shallow depth of field (the subject in focus and the background out of focus)
2. If you want everything sharp then move further back from your subject without zooming in just keep it zoomed out and everything should be in focus and also vice versa, the closer the camera is to the subject (physically, like picking up the camera and moving closer) the shallower the depth of field (background out of focus)

we dealt with a similar situation in a bedroom. The longer the focal length the shallower the focus will be. Thats why a lot of HVX/DVX users use 35mm adapters. But you wouldnt have to providing you use the elements of a large aperture, long focal length and subject to camera distance to achieve that, sometimes its difficult with small spaces though, but its not impossible.

Hi, shane, the issue here is not if one can shoot a good story with a webcam (its been done). Its the 720P vs 1080P on the HVX. Do a google search and you’ll have fun all day hearing different opinions about it.

thanks ron for your help, i actually found a production house who would run the file from the p2 straight out to component beta PAL.

some users have complained that after applying CC and effects in AE and reimported into vegas, the saturation and gamma changed, why would this be and is their a workaround? i really dont wanna finish in premiere or might i have to?
