First i’d like to mention i do not work for sony.
For 8 years, vegas has edited everything i threw at it. It crashed 5% of the time over several years. But through constant updates, i found most of the problems resolved. Im cutting a feature film with it right now with 1 terrabyte of P2 clips. Not a hick up. I also still work with DV tapes from capture to output and no problems either. What version are you using? Im still in pro 8 and its running smooth. Maybe its not a vegas issue, maybe a corrupt file, disk or other factors. My system mirrors yours too, windows 7, 3.2 GHZ

Yes scott, my wording may have been confusing. Its the ability to turn up the gain while seeing the waveform update. As you know, this may be helpful in matching volumes across clips without normalizing.
I usually work with 2 or three dialogue tracks, 2 music, several sound fx tracks also. This can become clutter very fast, i would love to see the folder tracks implemented, i also love the look of the mixer in cubase and wished vegas had it. Of course its not just about the looks, i just find it easier.

its really too bad these features are not implemented. I think if vegas had folder tracks, the ability to pull up the volume envelopes past 0 and other DAW features, rarely would anyone need to roundtrip. I wonder if sony has some kind of deal with steinberg not to do this because many of us asked for these features several versions ago.

also take the detail down to like -2 as video usually looks too sharp

I researched this extensively and found those results:

-If you are going to be doing slow motion, stick to 720P
-If you want more resolution 1080P is more beneficial, but if you wanna slow down footage after the fact you got to use the right tools, like “twixtor”
-1/48 and cinelike gamma are best to use, for print to film use 24PA
-for blowups, dont use “OIS” feature which used to mimimize camera shake

Most importantly is to be realistic, are you really printing to film. If this is for festivals, most will run from a digital projector whether its 16 by 9 widescreen, 720 or 1080P. so another words, know your destination format.

This camera will do well in the indy community but i wonder (if) the scarlet ever comes out, how well this will do.

Even the scarlet fixed lens kit being 3k with the mysterium x sensor will pretty much be the queen of the game. RAW recording will give all makers a run for the money, but then again sony and panny are long timers and will know what do then.

No artist will mature without constructive criticism
I actually put two trailers up before that i decided not to go with.
The way i cut the trailers is a “tool” to capture the audience im going for.

I will disagree on the continuity issue as i wanted this cut almost like a music video to target my audience.

The Film itself is a drama more than an action and having one character who wears a red hejab proves more powerful than any music as i already get questioned about excited members wanting to see this.

Through this analysis, i was able to determine that “it works”

Audiences have grown out of the “standards” and thats is key to capturing the new generation. I used to produce for myself but i matured into producing “for them”
