Thanks László for the response. I have been Googling this problem as I cannot seem to burn anything even though Windows 10 recognizes the drive. I found that many people were experiencing the same problem and their fix to this problem was unchecking ” Use Legacy Disc Drivers ” under Options>preferences>Burning in the Architect program. This did not appear as an option in Architect 5.0 but several said it was added in 5.2. I downloaded 5.2 from Sony’s website and installed the program. When I opened it, I was prompted to enter my serial # which I did but the screen did not advance after hitting the next button. I sent a message to Magix explaining my problem and am waiting for an answer. It just seems like nothing ever seems to run smooth from the start. Thank so much for people like you willing to help.
    Have a pleasant evening,

I found the problem. I forgot to uncheck Enable DV device control in my preferences. I need to make notes on this so if down the road I need to do it again I will know as I cant seem to remember things like this if I don’t do it for a long period of time. Part of being a dinosaur, I guess.
Thanks Grazie and Laszlo for the responses. I appreciate the help.

January 3, 2017 at 8:49 pm in reply to: VHS pass through DV camcorder to Sony Vegas

Thanks for the response Grazie. After the VCR is playing, I see video on the LCD on the camcorder but nothing on the Vidcap screen. If I switch to Unscreen Capture then back to Microsoft DV Camera and VCR the screen on Vidcap will show what is going through the camcorder but only for a second or two. Also if I switch to another screen on my computer and then back to Vidcap the image will show but just a second. This seems strange. I am going to try a different video cable to see if that makes any difference. The Firewire is good as I just finished capturing a bunch of tape from 8 & 16mm conversions.

Click lock is not checked, however I tried another mouse and everything works OK. I will see if I can change sensitivity settings on it and if not I will get a new mouse. Thank you for your prompt answer. It is much appreciated.

Everything I seem to find on this relates to rendering issues. The problem I am having happens during the editing process. Simple cuts are halted continously by this error message.

October 6, 2010 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Locked veg file

The veg files I created were on my system “C” drive and not the bad drive. I scoured the web before posting trying to find out how to correct this. Everything I found was in reference to setting up permissions in Windows Explorer. I have everything open so anyone can access and change add to or delete any files on all my drives. It is just my wife and myself using a home office computer. I had no previous problems and everything else in Explorer works fine so I was thinking this is a Sony Vegas specific problem but it is not. This morning I reinstalled the bad drive and to my surprise it was recognized but some of the files and folders were corrupt. The Veg files I had created on this questionable drive were missing as were some other files as well. I copied all the information that I needed to an external drive and am working with the files and saving them as I go. I am able to save the Veg files on this drive and they do not lock as they did when I was saving them on the “C” drive. Must be something to do with it being the system drive. I have no doubt that this drive is going South and what little I am doing on it I am saving often to my external drive. Just wanted to give an update on this.

The file is not marked as read only and under the security tab in the explorer, I have full permission to do whatever I want with the file but when I open it in Vegas, all the work that I had done shows up as greyed out sections. Nothing else in my explorer is locked. I thought this might me something in Vegas that is causing this.

    Thanks for the reply,

Thank you for the response John. That is exactly what I will do. I am sure it will work for 99 per cent of the people.

It is great to hear that Chris. I did not know if the two versions would work independently if installed on the same machine. The best of both worlds. Thank you for your input on this.
