Hey Red,

Curious, is it possible to format and record audio (with TC) at the same time? Striping the tapes is a nightmare… 26 30 minute dubs. Is there an audio equivalent to “assemble editing.”

My one hour passes were flawless. The “one day to figure out the machine” was worth it and needed! I must have read the manual 3 times.

On another note..
I’ve been following the Final Touch conversations.
I hope Apple does something with the app…like add it to FCP6, or give us a great WORKING standalone version.
I was thinking of upgrading my Synthetic Aperature since I’m pretty happy with what it does, but I’ll wait to see what happens.

I do 4 channel output for network with no issues.
I need to also deliver DA88’s, and while I haven’t done that yet, I have a post below that was replied to that confirms you can output 8channels of audio via SDI or AES.

I’m with you. I still don’t see the point.
Throw a harddrive in there and I’m a buyer.

This IS an HXV without the lens. Only attractive feature is the HD-SDI output, but AGAIN, why? The workflow now is for direct P2 transfer into an NLE.

I don’t get it.

As far as FCP, audio tracks are only limited by the hardware attached to it. It looks like we can output 24 tracks from a sequence.
But I don’t know if thats true. I would think if you need that many tracks, chances are you’re having it professionally done anyway.

Turns out, the network specs only require 8 tracks, so I’m good.

I should have been clearer…I’m running the Kona LH, so I guess the IO would be my choice.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll check out the Alesis.

If this gets too complex with converters and the like, I’ll just pay someone to do it.
I’m not willing to spend that much for show dubs, but if its cheaper than sending to a pro, I’ll entertain it.
This person seem to think the rental cost, stock, and time would be far cheaper than sending it out.
I’m not an audio engineer, so if I do this I want to make sure I’m doing it right, otherwise its not worth it.

I use the DMR-ES35VS from Panasonic. Great unit for quick window/client dubs.
For final delivery, nothing beats DVDSP. Its that extra “wow” factor clients like. These units don’t generate award winning menus, and the ones that do are a pain in the a** to setup.

I’ll leave all of the high-tech technical stuff to the pros, but did you confirm you’re using the correct framebuffer setting in the preferences?

Try trashing the Combustion preferences. Unfortunately I’m still using C3 and Kona LH, so I’m probably of no help, but I’ve never had an output problem from Combustion.

Thanks for the info Shane. I thought I would have to buy a ton of LaCie D2’s….but its good to hear this works.
