I have the Hoodman adapter combined with the Trancsend 32 gig class 6 card. It has worked just fine for me without any errors. It is alot slower during downloads though so plan on extra time and it also uses fat 32 file structure which makes files on the card that are only 13 minutes long. It then starts a new file automaticly so when you edit you just place the files one after the other on the timeline. It works just fine but takes a little more time.

OK, I use XDCAM Transfer and it keeps the clips broken down into seperate files. I rejoin them in FCP and it works fine, just more mouse clicks than there should be.

November 9, 2009 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Correct Histogram usage

Try to set your aperture so the histogram is more or less centered. Do not lose any info off the right side. This would indicate the suject is overexposed while if it is off the left side it is underexposed. If you blow the highlights out you can’t recover them in post very easily if at all. Sometimes you can recover some darker scenes but it is best to explose correctly when shooting. If your subject is very dark the histogram will be very tall on the left side. If this happens try opening the aperture or increasing the gain but be careful with using to much gain as it can make the image grainy.

You won’t be able to give a client the footage on site unless he has a computer that will play the EX format or can rewrap it to another codec. Plan on burning a DVD for him later.

When one card fills up the camera will switch over to the other card automaticly without missing a frame. Then you can change the first card while the camera is still recording to the second card. This works really great when you do not have the option of stopping to change cards. When cards are full you will need to download them and them delete the files. If you have a laptop you can do this in the field as the camera is recording to another card but the best bet is to have enough cards to handle a days shoot without downloading so you can make sure you have everything transferred to the computer with no problems before erasing. Two 32 gig cards should give you about 4 hr. of recording.

I have been using the Transcend 32 gig card (red stripe) and Hoodman adapter for over a month with no problems.

I am not positive on this but I think if the audio is recorded as 16 bit it can get out of sync. I had this happen with a DV tape and I had to slip the audio on the timeline to make it match.

I also wonder if they made it to not accept the SDHC card setup.

Yeah, I agree. No big deal when you already have the -3.
