Yes, that sounds normal. My MacBook Pro took 17 hours to render a 2 hr. program that was shot and edited in XDCAM EX. Renders seem to always take a long time. It works best to let it run overnight if you can.

Make sure those tracks are enabled over on the left side. Make sure the green button is green and you don’t have the tracks locked.

Yeah, I agree about the hard drive. I would not want to trust a paying gig on hard drive reliance. I think the industry has moved on to the flash card concept for reliabality. Hmmm, maybe someone will come up with a compromise.

The Ninjua looks really cool but only HDMI in? Isn’t that a little delicate for a connector? Seems like it could get knocked loose very easily. Also, no support for 30p recording. I still want one now though!

Do you think the new XDCAM Browser software will be available for all XD and EX workflows?

Here is an idea that may help. If you set up something like the Caldigit VR with removalble drives you can swap them out of the enclosure at will. 1 TB drives from Caldigit cost about $125. Check their site at caldigit.com and no I don’t work for them I just use their drives. Good luck!

I used my EX-3 to shoot a 30 second promo for The Hope Channel that airs on DirectTV. Also, shot some B-roll for same program that airs on 9-12.

Get the speakers and Caldigit VR. You can’t edit very well if your sound is bad and you need to get all you edit footage onto a RAID and off your boot drive.

Toast 10 is only $79.95 and works well but does not have all the menu details you may want. Encore seems to be the way to go if you want a detailed menu.
