Editing from an external drive is a must if you want to work comfortably. Keeping your system drive as lean and clean as possible is also very important.

    Bryce,

What is the total capacity of your internal drive and how much space have you free on that drive? As soon as the free space gets less that 15% of the total capacity of the drive you are in danger zone. Especially if you do any editing or rendering on your computer.

If you have 25GB of iTunes material on your system drive you might consider moving your iTunes Library to a portable external drive instead. This will free up your system drive.

Our Apple supplier told me last week some of his people were in London getting specific training on Pro Apps. So I think it may soon come to our part of the wold as well.

Select your Event and choose File > Organize Event Files.

This will replace the reference files with the actual source media files.

August 26, 2013 at 9:52 am in reply to: RedSharkNews: RED gets huge GPU workflow boost!

If the article is correct that with RedCine-X a single Titan GFX card will be able to handle 6K Dragon footage at 24fps this could indeed be great news for the new MacPro.

Comparative tests show that the Titan GFX and the AMD FirePro9000 (whose specs are the same as the ones that have been mentioned for the GPUs that will be inside the new MP) are very close performance-wise.

As most professional software now supports OpenCL alongside with CUDA it would be extremely hard to believe that RedCine-X would not fully support OpenCL as well. This would mean the new MacPro would be able to handle 6K Dragon at 24fps out of the box without the need for an expensive RedRocket card plugged into an external TB chassis. Interesting development…

They have to show the F1 cars as they don’t make an ordinary car that people want.

LOL. Now we know why Apple is showing these MacPro ads: they don’t make anything else that people want (-:

I haven’t heard of this ad being shown in European theaters. I agree this is just a branding ad, and IMO quite an impressive one for that.

We sometimes do CTV work for Renault through one of our agency clients. Some of their ads only show their Formula 1 cars racing. Now I don’t think many people are going to buy such a car after seeing the ad (-: But according to the agency they have been selling more town cars to younger people since they have been using their F1 team in their promos. So the halo effect still seems to be working

    Hi Denise,

What James said. Plus you might consider deleting your unused render files, or all of them, before exporting. Export failures are often related to conflicting render files.
