Make sure your imported clips have fully been converted to ProRes (no background processes are active anymore).
Then create a new Project and in the Project Properties window check the “Set Properties based on First Clip” option. Finally add a first clip to the Timeline, making sure this clip is a ProRes clip.

EDIT: In the Inspector > Info > Extended view you must go to Camera Angle and assign a unique Camera Angle (e.g. Angle 1, Angle 2…) for each clip. Then the clips should synch up in their respective angles. Sorry for the wrong information in my first reply.

R-click the multicam clip and select “Open in Angle Editor”. This will open the multicam clip in its own timeline. You will see both your clips one after the other on the same angle.
Click the down-facing arrow on the angle and choose Add Angle from the menu. A new angle will be added under the existing one. Then drag the other clip in the angle down to the new angle, and from the dropdown menu choose “synchronize to monitoring angle”.
This will synchronize both clips in both angles.

If this does not work you can use this workaround:

Select all the clips you need in the Event Browser, then press D to add them to the Timeline. If you want to add dissolves to all these clips: press CMD+A in the Timeline, then CMD+T and all clips will have dissolves between them. Is that what you mean?

You have to make sure that the “Final Cut Events” and the “Final Cut Projects” folders on the Drobos are at the very top level of the drive and not inside another folder. If they are inside another folder FCPX won’t see them.

For that I guess you will have to wait and see. The Presto in a Sonnet chassis is a perfectly working solution for us and I don’t find it to be clunky at all, so I won’t be waiting for anything else.

Judging from recent tests we have done with a Sonnet Presto over Thunderbolt I’m quite confident this will play out very well on the new MP.

It’s a known issue and Apple is aware of it. Do you still hear the dips when you don’t use the noise reduction on the audio in the angle editor?

I haven’t had time to try this, so this may be a stupid suggestion.
Create a new H.264 setting in Compressor and in Frame Controls set Output Fields to “Top First”. Then you save this as a custom preset and it will appear as a new Compressor setting in FCPX. Shouldn’t this do the trick?
