  • Create Sequence from Keyword Collection or Smart Collection?

Not sure if this is even possible. But in After Effects there’s a way to create a sequence from whatever clips you have selected in the Project pane, and it even gives you the option to add cross dissolves between clips. Is there anything remotely similar possible in Final Cut X? That would be super helpful

    thanks!

Select all the clips you need in the Event Browser, then press D to add them to the Timeline. If you want to add dissolves to all these clips: press CMD+A in the Timeline, then CMD+T and all clips will have dissolves between them. Is that what you mean?

actually one more question…..(since I”m not in front of my mac)

By using this technique, will it only overwrite the primary storyline via the in/out points of all selected clips? ie. does selecting multiple clips in the event browser still maintain their in/out points?
I’m assuming this would be the case.

    thanks again

Yes and it will even pick up on multiple ranges within each clip.
