Hi Jeff, thanks. Currently, I am re-doing the DVD in DVDSP, no other option since it has2go. I am recompressing the file in compressor right now (from FCP) just in case there was something wrong there. I would like to report back tomorrow on how things went.

But, here is what I did in FCP: Edited in ProRez HQ 1920x1080i. Took the final sequence, then set up another timeline/ sequence as a SD 720×486 and imported the final HD timeline into the SD timeline and rendered, then export that file, and imported into encore. I checked to make sure the fields were reversed since HD is upper and SD is lower in FCP.

    This a 16:9 show.

What I did in encore would take some time since I was trying everything after a while. Again, it’s the first one like this, so I am sure it is pilot error. The Blu-ray worked and looked great though! That is what is confusing, because I did basically the same thing except change all settings from HD to SD.

You are up late! Get some sleep!

    Thanks
    Ron

Jeff, thanks for the quick response! I use verbatim blank discs and burn at 4x (not higher speeds).

Richard and John, thanks. Simply making a new sequence did the trick.

August 11, 2008 at 9:31 pm in reply to: QT export= wrong clip

One more thing… I have a dvcpro 720 sequence. When I export using “current settings” the exported file starts and stops where it should. However, upon opening in combustion it is very aliased. So, I have attempting to export uncompressed, also pro-rez 1280×720, really anything else besides “current settings” and the file starts and stops later than the mark-in and out point.

    Help

Steve, thanks for the quick response, however I deleted render files as suggested, rebooted and re-opened. I exported a clip again (about 5 seconds… mark in, mark out) and the export began 42 frames after my mark-out point! Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again!

  • Well, I’m sort of new to FCP, but have done avid and discreet edit for a looong time. I think the most unprofessional thing in FCP is that you can not see the audio levels when you capture! I mean you could at least control something from your board if it got too loud or too soft (if you could see it). Software editing programs have been doing that since 1997 or so. Also, disappearing waveforms and long waveform times to draw are frustrating.
