It depends on the weight of your battery. Using a 90 watt hour battery with a Sony wireless receiver in the back shoe it is fairly well balanced but not as comfortable as the 300 or the 320. Since I climb arourd a lot in getting to my shooting position I also put on the BU 60 regular battery just in case the battery becomes disloged or runs down. So far I have had ony one instance where the battery became dislodged or disconnected and the extra battery saved me in over 140 hours of use with the brace. I haven\’t found anything as comfortable as the 300 except for the 320. That camera is ever lighter than your 300.

Hey Jim I have that same setup except that I have the V mount. It works super with the ex3. Extra padding makes it more comfortable. Only complaint is that it won\’t fit in the expensive case that I already had. I have to take off the back part of the brace to get into the case for transit. Two thumb screws make it fairly easy to assemble. No run and gun with my case. Likewise if I am out in the open and it starts to rain I can\’t quickly put in the case usually I take a garbage bag with me just in case it rains.

December 23, 2010 at 3:18 pm in reply to: When I’ve wiped an SXS card, should I format it every time? How about the PMW 320? In the menu I have not found “delete all clips” like it is on the EX-1 and Ex-3. Anybody found the “delete all clips” in the menu?
Thanks

It is the band you get from a flash still camera or a strobe going off during your shoot when using a cmose camera rather than a ccd camera.

November 26, 2010 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Getting a lens adaptor plus lens for my Sony PMW -EX1… which re the best… and cheapest?Hello: “getting a lens ” for your ex-1? Are you sure?? The lens does not come off on the Ex-1. There are several wide and telephoto adapter lenses for the Ex-1 and the ex-1R all of which have their quirks. Some of the Wide angle adapters will not allow complete zoom at wide and the same goes for some of the telephoto adapters. I had a century optics wide angle and it showed cropping of the image on wide and from what
The Ex-3 stock lens does come off and is actually a pretty good HD lens when you consider the price. Depending on what lens you get for the EX-3 you can spend more that what the camera originally cost.
I have both the Ex-1R and the Ex-3 and both are outstanding cameras for the work that I do. The ex-3 is two years old and I have never had the stock lens off.
I am not sure but there may be some type adapter for the lens on the Ex-1 that will do what you want it to do. The folks on this forum are a fountain of knowledge and I am sure will come to your rescue..
Take care
Ronnie

I have been buying and trading cameras with Dennis at Armatos for the past 10 years or so and their service after the sale is outstanding. On the very first camera I purchased from Dennis (Sony DSR 500) I experienced a camera failure right in the middle of the first shoot. It was
on a Saturday afternoon and I had another job in New
Orleans on the following Tuesday. Dennis sent me
another camera body UPS overnight delivery and I
received it Monday afternoon. That was about 10 years
ago and I have been a loyal customer since.Sent from my Iphone with much difficulty

The rear shoe problem solved… I received this week a “rear shoe” kit from my dealer (Dennis Hopkins) at Armatoes in NY and itworks like a champ. It is more robust of heavy duty than the stock front shoe and will handle an external monitor with ease.
Also I have looked carefully at the standard focus block by Verizoom for the stock lens. I am not sure but it appears to be the same size and configuration as the normal Fuginon lenses. I called varizoom and they did not know if it would fit or not. Anyway it appears to me that the aftermarket companies are missing the chance to develop accessories for this very popular camera.

We just received delivery on the PMW 320 and it really appears to be an awesome camera.
After looking at the stock lens, it should be easy for someone to come out with a focus block for conventional mechanical remote focus control for this lens.
One problem I noticed is that it has only one shoe for accessories. The supplied shoe is on the front. The manual states that a rear shoe kit is available for an external monitor. I have searched and searched without finding any info on the rear shoe.
Since I already have a sony wireless receiver I will need to use the front kit for the wireless and need a rear shoe for the monitor.
Anybody have info on the rear shoe kit?
Thanks
