That’s the same one where I downloaded the CINEMA4DAE.aex, but nowhere could I find a C4DEXPORTER.aex file.

The folder I downloaded from the Maxon site has only one file and that is CINEMA4DAE.aex but it’s maybe 5 times as large a file as the one already in the FORMAT folder of After Effects CS3. I’m fairly certain that this is the AE to C4D plug-in and not the other way around. I found it through the latest link from Motionworks so I’m not sure where to locate the file you’re taling about.

Thanks for the help and perhaps that’s the best thing to keep in mind to first off create a texture that doesn’t need to be fixed and is pretty near seamless to begin with. It probably makes the tiling all the easier. I’ve been working with Cinema 4D for around 3 years now and still find that I’ve glossed over some basic operations such that there are gaps in my education on this many-faceted program, but it’s been a blast.

  • So when you go into Load Material Preset>User>Materials, that list can only be added to, not reduced in size? My User Materials list is getting fairly unwieldy now and difficult to scroll around in, so I was hoping to thin it out a bit before copying over into R12 .lib4d but as I understand it, once you save, it’s written in stone.

I’m still trying to copy my .lib4d files from R11 to 12 but haven’t been able to locate the R11 Users folder. Is it accessible through Windows Explorer or do I need to go through C4D itself to find it?

Just wanted to thank you for your help. I’m now up and running with version 12! All it finally took was an updated driver on that graphics card you recommended and an online upgrade of Cinema itself.

    Adam,

Thanks. I went in and deleted the Preferences folder but same story when I opened Cinema, so I figured I’d better go to the source. Chris over at Maxon Support said to send a screenshot of my interface and hopefully we can get this moving in the right direction. We opened it up in Software Mode and in Preferences we checked out the new card I just installed (the GeForce GTS450) and it gave it high marks for OpenGL capabilities, but in software mode there was this milky-white film over the Perspective Viewport (but at least I could now make out the 3D axes). I appreciate all your great advise and for taking the time to help.

  • Well, I’ve upgraded my graphics card setup to what you had suggested (the GeForce GTS450) but I’m still getting the same result when I open up C4D R12. The interface will open but the Perspective View window is only flat gray and the 3D grid is missing. This happened of course when I installed the updated graphics card driver. When I first installed Cinema the program opened up like it’s supposed to. It looks like the trouble could be in the program itself. I wonder if I should re-install C4D? Do you have any suggestions?

    Yes, I’m on a PC.

Thanks so much for the tip, Adam. My system is a Core2Duo with 2GB of RAM and R11 has been performing like a dream. I just seemed to run into a brick wall when it comes to getting 12 up to speed, but I really don’t have any money left to turn around and upgrade my whole system just for one program. Anyway, I’ll definitely go with the NVidia card you recommended and look forward to producing some great stuff, thanks to Cinema 4D!
