As you said keeping things generic is best. Please contact me and we can do a conference call with Bob Z and talk openly. We do sell and support Active Storage but the best thing is to talk privately and get you the no nonsense answers you need. My info is ron@maxxdigital.com or call 714-374-4944.Talk to you soon.

This is not as simple answer. The answer would depend on your needs such as resolution of your project. Most of the time people want faster because even if they do not use the storage to it’s potential it gives them room to grow. You speak about low energy consumption but you are not specific on the RPM of the drives you say will save energy.

Most (Green Drives) are 5400-5900 RPM and will not cut the mustard in many professional video editing situations. The Green thing is a great idea if you are just archiving mass data like in a huge data center or library. I will always say to go with something you can grow with and not something that saves energy and will keep you from moving forward.I am always free to discuss things privately at ron@maxxdigital.com.

My company deals with all of the large HBA companies. The best service from a post sales view is ATTO. You have local support and a great team that understands Mac and PC. Many of these companies base everything on PC which does not always help if you are Mac based. Please feel free to contact me ron@maxxdigital.com as we can help you with all the top brands.ATTO is your best bet.

October 7, 2010 at 6:33 pm in reply to: MXF Option

Walter we are on the phone with them and your editor john at your office fixing this as we speak. It also sounds like someone also installed the wrong software from Calibrated – the email states there is a Calibrated logo watermark over his video – that means he installed one of the Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs – which is not necessary and not meant for computers with Final Cut Pro installed. You would still need to purchase and install Calibrated{Q} MXF Import (or MXF4MAC) to playback the MXF files within CatDV:

May 19, 2010 at 4:57 pm in reply to: No drives showing in ATTO Configuration Tool

    Jacob
We use a similar set up at MAXX DIGITAL for our Raids and it could me a number things such as cable , drives not connected(seated) but one thing is in the ATTO config tool there is a command called auto map and this refreshes the identity of the Raid. How many ports are there on the back of the AIC chassis? Have you tried all of these?

Was the Raid created on the same card you are using now? ATTO is pretty good with support so try them as well. With no sales pitch intended but this is why we sell complete solutions and not parts. I hope that some of my email helps.

  • We are checking with Apple but as far as we know the imac uses a different chip set and seems to be fine. We have had no complaints so far with clients using the imac. Back to you soon if we find out any different. We are here if you have any further questions. rom@maxxdigital.com
