    Ohh:) Again:

    Your DVD is 4’700’000.
    4700000 divide MINUTES divide 60 multiply 8 multiply 0.96 = total bitrate
If you want to use AC3 sound at 192, then:
Video bitrate = total bitrate minus 192
    Audio bitrate – 192
Just set parametrs in CCE and press encode 🙂

Encode XVid Videos with CCE or Canopus proCoder (calculate bitrate)
Then use any authoring software – Ulead, Architect, Encore, Maestro, Scenarist…

    Subtitles is subtitles
    CC is CC

If you need to create subs – create subs text and be fine 🙂
If you need to create Closed Captions you need to use Sonic Scenarist

    Hm…
Try to downscale 35mm images to 720×480(576) dy using Bicubic alghorytm, by Photoshop or any graph software.
    Then use it to author.

If you need quality transcoding – “Can they do it or not?” – answer is NO
By using Premiere can get only low quality videos with interpolated frames, “twitching” movie – this is answer YES 🙂

/* Do you know if you need to select “first header only” or “entire file” in DVD Patcher? */

I’m not using Encore, but i mean that Encore reads only first GOP from file.
Then, i mean that “patch only first header” will be fine.
If no – set entire file.

/* (and which should be selected both times–before Encore as an MPEG and after as VOBs?) */

Yes, before – MPEG2 files, after – all VOBs that contains 704×480 video.

December 12, 2006 at 12:25 pm in reply to: burning dual layer

    Hi

/* i first burn with nero my project done with encoreDVD 1.51, with a verbatim dvd-r dl. the dvd was working perfectly on my jvc (xv-n50) but was not functionnal in a panasonic (dvd-s27) and a cambridge audio (dvd55), some button don’t work */

NERO can not burn playable DVD+/-R DL disks!
Nero do not check layer break position and try to record DL disk as 50/50.
DO NOT USE NERO to burn DVD-VIDEO DL disks!!!!!!!!
A don’t know how old your DVD-players, but i know 100% what need to burn 100% playble DVD+R DL, bring it to plant and get 100% work DVDs:
    1. Create VIDEO_TS folder with files. Calculate MPEG2 stream from film length/menus/etc.
    2. Download ImgBurn software
    3. See recorders list that support book-type changing (i use NEC 3551)
    4. Set book-type to DVD-ROM for DVD+R DL disks
    5. Open VIDEO_TS folder, Imgburn promt you where need to place LayerBreak, or calculate optimal.
    6. Write disk at 2x or 4x
    7. Insert to any dvd player and be happy 🙂

/* this dvd project is for printing, and 7mb/s max is not ideal for distribution. */

    calculate it!

/* so, because the dual layer video_ts folder generated by encore works (prooved by shrinking into a single layer dvd), i guest i could give this folder, or a .img, to the printing shop and their printed dvd should works perfectly? (because layer will not be thinner)
    */

50/50. plants can not set layerbreak in images. you must:
    1. DVD+/-R DL disk
    2. PlantDirect files (can be generated from GEAR7, Sonic Rom Formatter, Sonic Scenarist)

/* For instance, ImgBurn lists speeds from 1X to 56X, regardless of media inserted. Let me know when you can burn DVD-RW at 56X. */

Joe! I very much hope, that will be no person who will to write at speed 56x 🙂
Besides there was a question how to write at 1x – my answer is not right?
