Burn Speed
Posted by Tom Brand on December 9, 2006 at 10:47 pmAnother question…is there a way to drop the burn speed to 1x? My duplicating people are suggesting that.
Maybe save the files and use another program to burn the DVD?

Actually, that’s not true. For instance, ImgBurn lists speeds from 1X to 56X, regardless of media inserted. Let me know when you can burn DVD-RW at 56X.
No, burn speed is determined by burner firmware and media used. Whatever the lowest speed available is will be the one that is set up in the burner firmware for that media type/brand.

December 12, 2006 at 3:56 pmIn general, it is not right that ImgBurn can burn any media at any speed. Many burner firmware routines no longer support 1x burning, because newer DVD media are formulated for safe minimum burning speeds at 2x or 4x. Although you can select 1x, I would be very surprised if it actually burned at 1x, unless you were using very old DVD-R media.
