No, no green line and I have watched before rendering out. What do you mean by rendering a trouble maker?

    many thanks

You need an external to run the scratch disk on, if you run your scratch on your internal boot, FCP will run like a pig in treacle. If the MBP has an esata connection then you can get a sata drive and everything will be good. Otherwise go for FW which as I say is better than running everything on your internal.

You should be able to change the angle of the gradient wipe by double clicking on the transition.

Or you could get a bit more precise and use solid colour from the video generator effects, then use key frames on the crop and opacity settings.

Have you pressed the browse button in the top left of the log & transfer browser? Should sort the issue out.

Does FCE 3.5 come with Compressor? If so, that’s what you should be using as you have much more control over the compression and it is a dedicated compression program.

If it doesn’t then either persuade them to get it, if that’s not an option, then talk to someone who has worked there previously and ask them what they did.

As far as I’m aware the Macbook Pro should be fine and if you’re using the XD plugin then all will be well, however I would use a separate drive to handle all the footage, especially if you’re going to colour correct.

As far as pro res is concerned, it’s pretty much always the way to go.
