  • Fade To White From Top & Bottom…

Posted by Holly Oliver on May 20, 2011 at 3:52 pm

    Hello all,

first post as I am usually just a reader but I am having real difficulties working this one out…

I have an image and I want to create a fade to white, from the top and the bottom in final cut.

As if an eye blink or a shutter closes, I want it to fade so there is an element of smoothness and a gentle close, like gradient/opacity low white.

I have used the gradient wipe transition, this style is perfect but I can’t change the angle – I have used the center wipe transition, this motion and angle is pefect but I can’t change the softness and the feathered edges aren’t quite right…

Is there a way to achieve this look?

Any advice would be muchly appreciated, many thanks in advance…

    Holly.

You should be able to change the angle of the gradient wipe by double clicking on the transition.

Or you could get a bit more precise and use solid colour from the video generator effects, then use key frames on the crop and opacity settings.
