You are most welcome Tomas. I’m glad things have worked out for you. I am however perplexed that Light Transmission is working, given your specific comp/timeline scenario. I suggest that you double check to ensure that you are looking at the correct layers/properties.

    Cheers

  • There are a few Puppet related scripts at aescripts.com . You should take a look and see which one best fits your workflow.

May 24, 2013 at 3:27 am in reply to: DVD(VOB) to AE back to DVD ewww!

The VOB files are essentially MPEG files. All you need to do is to change the file extension from .VOB to .MPG. You can then use the MPG file directly in PPro instead of AE. In fact, I believe that PPro is able to import VOB files directly.

From PPro, you should be able to export/render out an MPEG2 with DVD specs using Adobe Media Encoder’s DVD preset.

May 23, 2013 at 11:28 pm in reply to: How to render from AE CS6 to DVD?

[Albert Renteria] ” It doesn’t look very good, though. Is it because the original video is higher resolution and wasn’t originally made to be on DVD?”

It’s likely more the case that the original video wasn’t very good to begin with. Additionally, ensure that you crank up the bitrate/datarate of the MPEG2 compression to 9MBps, which is close to the maximum allowable bitrate for DVD.

Two-nodes when I need/want to be more expressive with the camera. Then again, it’s a case of different strokes for different folks – so keep this in mind.

  • I like U to show only keyframed properties. This excludes showing Expressions which is also shown for the existing implementation of U.

BTW, Todd, it will be good to include a backstory to each question that you post as it will provide a clearer platform for folks to see/appreciate the changes/feature requests.

In this case, the change in U has been made cos a lot of folks often only want to view keyframed properties. An additional step; EE is then required to toggle off view of Expressions after pressing the U key.

May 23, 2013 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Adjustment layer cancelling a shadow

As far as the 3D render engine is concerned, an Adjustment Layer acts like a 2D layer – they restrict 3D layer interactions. 3D layer interaction includes light transmission and layer intersections as well as shadow casting.

If you pre-render the required layers, you can use a white solid to act as a shadow catcher – TIP: set this layer to Cast Shadows Only (available with CS6).

Adjustment Layers, 2D or even 3D, break AE’s 3D layer interaction for layers above and below the Adjustment Layer.

With this in mind, you will have to either (1) pre-render the Adjustment Layer and its underlying layers or (2) apply the effect (that was applied to the Adjustment Layer) singularly, to each relevant layer.

You should have Adobe Media Encoder (AME) as part of AE CS. Use AME’s DVD preset and you should be fine.
