You may be having issues with AE’s RAM cache which is refusing to be updated. You should first ensure that your new footage is of the same dimensions as the proxy that you used – this will preclude other issues that may crop up.

To solve the cache issues, you should go to Edit>Prefs>Media & Cache and Empty the cache folder.

You are right! As long as you work in square PAR, you don’t need to check, using PAR correction. Well, perhaps only at the final step when you nest into a non-square PAR.

On a related matter, ensure that any graphics that you create in PS or AI are also in square PAR.

I believe that your cubes were created in a precomp and then nested in a ‘final’ comp. Once you’ve nested the comp, switch on the Collapse Transformation switch so that 3D interaction between the cubes works as expected.

If you want/need absolute control then use a 3D particle system. You may also want to check out Houdini for its particle systems.

Have you checked the rendered movie instead of the Timeline?

Sawadeekarp! In AE, you should always work in square pixel aspect ratio (PAR) comps. Then, if required to output to a non-square PAR, you nest your ‘final’ composition into a non-square composition and render.

The ‘smooth’ Expression method samples a range in time to do its thing. I too find it difficult to control it precisely. I suggest you do ne of the following –
1) apply an Expression Point Control to the layer containing the tracking data. set its value to [0,0]

2) create an Expression link from tracking data to the Point Control

3) Use this Expression as the script –
value+ExpressionPointControl; where Point Control is the Expression. Use the pick-whip so that the correct script is applied by AE

4) Keyframe the Point Control value to achieve your smoothing effect

Alternatively, or in conjunction with the above technique, you can start things off by eyeballing the tracking data’s motion path and make manual adjustments to smooth the path.
