This looks like Fractal Noise. Set the Fractal Type to blocks – adjust height and width to taste. Animate Fractal Evolution to get some motion. Animate Offset to push the fractals left/right.

Foam will sample custom bubbles from its state of creation – the first frame. From then on, each new custome bubble created in Foam will be based on the current timeline indicator of the Foam composition. In short, Foam samples without any control over the start time of the custome bubble.

Particle Playground does that. CHeck out my COW tutorial on particle Playground entitled, Fun inParticle Playland.

Youmay also want to have a look at Cell Pattern for the effect you want and bypass Particle Playground altogether. The only problem here is that you won’t be able to have the cells multiply themselves to eventually fill up the screen. Well, perhaps with some major masking work you may be able to do it but it’s going to be a monstrous job.

Particle Playground is still your best bet.

You’ll want to use a small amount of repel to ensure that the particles do not overlap. It’s going to be tricky if you want to pull this off in a perfect manner.

There is no one-button garbage matte effect/plugin/animation assistant/animation preset in AE. You have to do this manually. But it’s easy. In AE, you use mask tools to create your garbage matte(s).

  • You will want to llok at Trapcode’s Lux for the job. Serge has a pretty good technique that uses AE’s built-in Beam plugin – do a search for that at the COW.

You are most welcome Steve. This bit of info was supposed to form the basis for a COW Tutorial about two years ago, if I recall correctly. It seemed to me, then, that lots of folks were using Offset when they should be using Motion Tile. Another interesting bit, again, if I recall correctly, is that Motion TIle only makes things seamless

    Cheers

You’re right, Offset does not support motion blur BUT Motion Tile does. Replace Offset with Motion Tile and you should be good to go. The parameters that you need for Motion Tile work in similar fashion to Offset – so it shouldn’t take you too long to make the changes.

This is the first time I’ve heard of ‘compression markers”. You’ll need to elaborate on its functionality and visual presence.

As for QT markers, they are only viewable via the QT Player by default. For it to be displayed on other players/applications, there has to be some coding involved.
