John, what you’ve suggested is definitely in the works but only once the product is released. There are about 400+ menu items, sliders and checkboxes! I’ve had issues trying to hone in on what to show in a 5-minute video because it’s impossible to show the features/possibilities in such a time frame – in short I was afraid I would short-change the product. I do have a better idea NOW on which areas of the product to show but it’ll still entail at least 4-6, 10-15 minute videos. These take time which I do not have, at the moment, unfortunately.

For now, it’s got to be a leap of faith, John. 😀

Did you previously FREEZE the RotoBrush effect? If you did then you have to unFREEZE it before you can make changes.

The Uber key in mocha does exactly this – which is why most folks prefer mocha for rotoscoping tasks. In AE, the closest option/feature is to enable the Preference – “Preserve Constant Vertex and Feather Point …”.

Curves are ideal for such fixes.

For more control: with AE CC, you can use Mask Tracking on only the overblown area. Then duplicate the layer and apply Curves (or even Levels) to lessen the overblown effect, on the top-most duplicate.

With AE CC2014, you can do the Mask Tracking thingy without having to duplicate the layer by taking advantage of Masked Effects in CC 2014’s Compositing Options feature.

You can start off with a Shape Layer, with a single ellipse. Then use the Shape Layer’s Repeater Operator. Then use Layer>Autotrace to get a single Solid Layer with a Mask for each ellipse. When you launch Newton, you will be prompted to separate the ellipses in the Solid, select yes and you should be good to go.

So … starting from the lowest layer, you want each layer to fade in over 5 seconds and for each subsequent layer above to have its fade in start point to be offset by three seconds.

Paste the following Expression into the Opacity prop –
duration = 5;
offset = 3;
indexScalar = offset*(index-1);
linear(time,indexScalar,indexScalar+duration,0,100)

It’s not clear when you move forward/backward AND change property values if this involves one, two or ALL layers. I suggest that you re-read what you posted and then re-post and write slowly as you describe what you want to do with the layers, which layers, which property and when this happens.

All tracking solutions requires that you specify a tracking area. Hence, if the areas you specified isn’t ideal for tracking then your tracking results will inevitably fail.

Since you didn’t post anything related to your tracking area it’s quite impossible to discern what you issue is. However, I assume that your tracking area/spline in mocha encompasses the object that is being held by your talent. This object includes shadows that appear and then disappear while the object is handled. There is high probability that this obvious shadow movement which moves differently from the object itself is the cause for your tracking issue. Of course there could be other issues but I’d look at this first.
