1. When using EDLs, can you use the Split and Add into Media Pool to shorten the master session clips so it’s easier to render out clips for matte generation?
2. If you are finishing at 2K, it might be better to get 2K mattes to save on some disk bandwidth, CPU, memory, etc.

Hi Dean,
We have not been able to reproduce the problem here. MXF/DNxHD files seem to work just fine with 7.1.
If you have a file which does not work, please do send it over to our help address – davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com, and we will investigate it as soon as possible.

Hi Teo,
If your Macbook Pro 15″ is CUDA enabled (NVIDIA graphics), and has sufficient graphics RAM, you should certainly be able to use it to learn the software. Remember to enable the full performance graphics in the Energy Saver (see our Mac configuration guide on our website), as well set the 24″ LCD as your main display since Resolve needs a 1920×1080 display to run properly.
I would recommend setting your timeline resolution to SD since you will have very little graphics RAM.

Dwaine covered this in a previous thread on the same topic:

This driver is available from Red’s website, and remember to upgrade the Rocket firmware as per instructions on Red’s website.

The Desktop 2 has an option for a 4-slot configuration. I’m not sure if you have the 2-slot or the 4-slot configuration. Also it’s important to have the x16 cable and Cubix host-side card for optimum performance. (This is documented in our config guide)
If you put the GTX285 in Slot1, you still have the Slot2 available. It sort of extends out a little bit from the motherboard, but once you put the screws on, it is quite stable. The other GTX goes in Slot 4, and will block Slot 3. So you have the Slot 2 free for the Red Rocket.
If you have the x8 cable and the 2 slot model, it should still work, but we haven’t tested it. In this case, it might be better to swap the 2nd GTX285 with the Red Rocket.

You can actually put 2 GTX285 and 1 Red Rocket in the Cubix Desktop 2 (with the 4-slot option).

Here are a few things to check:
1. Q4800FX in slot1 and GT120 in slot2
2. GUI monitor plugged into GT120. This monitor should be set as the main display, i.e. should have the Mac menu bar at the top.
3. No DVI cables plugged into Q4800FXIf this still doesn’t help, you can add these lines in the Debug section of “Preferences” to force the old behavior of detecting which CUDA card to use for processing.
LsManager.3.NumGPUs = 1
LsManager.3.GPUMapping = 0
LsManager.3.GPUMappingEnable = 1You will have to Save and restart Resolve for these settings to take effect.
Please contact our support at davincihelp@blackmagic-design.com if you continue to have issues with this. Please send the output of the System Profiler as a XML file. Thanks!

There is a cue offset function which you can perhaps use. Basically, set it to a high enough number, and it will cue you right in the middle of the scene when you hit next scene, prev scene. Not sure if that’s useful, but might be worth trying. This is in the config page, Settings tab I think.

There will be proper documentation for this soon, but this should be useful meanwhile:

F5: Play Still
F6: Step Node < (ALT: Add Parallel)F1: Start Dynamic
F2: Mark
F3: Basemem (ALT: Basemem Reset)The bottom keys:

Next Clip (ALT: Last Frame)
Play Rev (ALT: Step Reverse)
Stop
Play Fwd (ALT: Step Forward) -
Did you try pressing the “Up and Down” buttons at the same time on the wave panels. It will get you to a master menu and you can switch quickly to other menus. There are two master menus – and you can get to either by pressing the up and down keys.
