    Hi

OK perhaps I’m using the wrong terminology.

We need to work in ProRes HQ as this is what most of the rest of the footage is in.

and indeed it is the spanned files that I’m trying to get to run continuously (we are learning here)

I have tried log and transfer from the files that have been copied onto the server but it does nothing, I’ve also tried right clicking on the log and transfer window but it comes back with incomplete card structure.

There are always goiing to be these places out there, naming conventions and a cast iron database are the heart of a broadcast facility. learn from it, put it behind you and as has been said, you kind of have to interview them as much as them you.

Thats an easy one, just duplicate the group and put the effect and mask on the upper layer. You can also add tracking behavior to that as well.

March 25, 2012 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Final Cut / Compressor HD to SD for DVD

Sorry, I was in a bit of a panic and thought I was creating a new thread in the FCP section rather than the DVD section and I think I have solved the issue in that the 445 MB was actually OK for what I wanted. I found that previous uploads to transfer sites I’ve done from my PC were not as fast as from my Mac

    Sorry

March 24, 2012 at 9:58 pm in reply to: Final Cut / Compressor HD to SD for DVD

Hi I’ve been an editor for 35 years but had little to do with exporting file formats.

I’ve edited a 3 minute Promo using the DVCPRO 1080/50 codec, I need this as an SD MPeg2.

I have downscaled this by puttng it on a IMX50 (because that is what we use at work for SD) and have exported through Compressor using the MPeg 2 option. (I’m wroking in the UK on PAL)

This comes out at 445meg. As this is being sent across a domestic upload, any suggestions as to how to reduce the size would be wonderful.

I see that the DVD compressors seem to export as a M2V with separate audio comes out at 121meg

As I say, I’m not new to editing but am a bit ov a novice when it comes to files.

    Thanks
    Rog

Looking at the effect, if the flashes are adjustable, 1 more flash in that group would make it illegal in the UK due to PSEs (Photo Sensitive Epilepsy) no more than three flashes per second

It’s more the lens, image chips and processing that adds the dosh and the quality, plus the amount of control you have over focus, Iris and White balance

There is also a limit to the resolution you can get on a DV tape.

If you go for a hard drive camera, really, I mean REALLY check it out against what you have as not all what they are cracked up to be. The 400 quid JVC Hard drive camera I bought isn’t as good as the Sony DV camera a mate bought off Ebay for 150 quid – especially in low light although here in the UK DV is a dying format.

All we do is to set the output of FCP to soundflower the select 16 track on the output of soundflower. Only thing we have is even after trawling through all the settings in both soundflower and PPMulator is that after 10 minutes or so all we get is a loud buzzing. Strange thing is that ONE of the 10 suites is OK?????

And we have been through all the settings and matched them.
