Thanks GranitW …. I couldn’t find a button in Qtime prefs for this … there is a change poster frame option but nothing else. I have a movie created at work on a PC where the icon is a pic and any I create at home on the Mac are the QT logo and yes I have the ‘Show Icon preview’ selected. Thanks so much for taking the time Roger

Thanks Ian … when you say ” … worst case scenario … ” is it really going to be that bad …. after using a pro monitor for years am I really going to get a realistic view of my output doing it that way or am I just wasting my time ? …. what do you think chaps …. Roger

Yep my worry is interlacing and colour and stuff …. I’ve been used to seeing my comps on a glass output, and the assurance this offers, so I’d like to find a solution … or do I take a chance. I’ll keep digging and experimenting … thanks for taking the time … Roger

Thanks chaps .. you’ve made me realise that it makes sense. I’m about to go back to working freelance again and money is going to be tight so ‘cost-effective’ is my by byword at the moment. Regards Roger

Yep I’ve been struggling with this issue now and then. Not so much from the aesthetic point but in an attempt to avoid field order problems as there have been a number of occasions when I have delivered a job ‘upper’ when they wanted ‘lower’ so I figured progressive would solve the dilemma. Matt … can you explain what you mean when you say ‘add motion blur’ …. is this in After Effects ? and therefore the blur is only affecting moving ‘graphic elements’ (ie not video footage) ? and if there is video footage and you are going to render OUT with no fields how do you ‘interpret’ said footage on import ? Best regards Roger

Sorry Mylenium I’m not sure how ‘safe’ colours would affect what appears to be a field order problem but yes they are safe. The DVD player is not under my control (I will be sending the DVD) the transcode settings are, more or less, fixed in iDVD and Toast but I am pretty sure I have set them correctly in DVD Studio Pro and what are ‘automatisms’? … Are you saying that unless I spend mega-bucks on a hardware encoder I cannot make a usable DVD ?

Thanks for your time … Roger

Thanks frippy I’ll try the blur trick and Eric … I’ll give lower field first a go. Regards Roger

Hi …. can I join in here … I’ve seen a lot of C4D training dvd’s on ebay at pretty good prices though I expect ‘get-what-you-pay-for’ comes into play here … but does anyone have any experience of the ebay offerings ?

    Many thanks
