Hi … thoughts please. I was about to buy Creative Suite … it seems an excellent package … I own ‘stand alone’ copies of Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator etc. but some of the afore mentioned need updating (and I want Dreamweaver) so CS seems like the way to go. Now, my main packages is After Effects and with Production Studio for mac just around the corner including Premier and Encore, which I’d quite like to have, I am really tempted to go for it but I find it a little hard to have to buy – in effect – TWO copies of Photoshop and Illustrator and Bridge… I think what I’m saying is … is it cost effective to buy CS and PS even though I will have dupes of Pshop and Illustrator and bridge or should I buy one or the other and stand alone copies of any extra software I need … I know you will all say … “Add up what you need and make a decision” … I just need somebody to nudge me in one direction or the other. Thanks for your time …. Roger

Well, I’m not 100% clear on what you already have, but if it’s not CS versions of PS, Illust, etc. then it definitely makes sense to Get Prod Studio Premium, the integration is unmatched. Plus you’re getting about

Like jimmybee said, considering the value you get, it should be a no-brainer. I also think your existing software will entitle your to get a discount (at least AE is a valid candidate), taking off even more bucks/GBP/Euros or whatever. If all else fails, don’t forget that you are legally entitled to sell your software and transfer licenses, so at least you don’t have too many boxes floating around that are catching dust…

I looked up to see what credits you could get on the web for your existing products. I plan on upgrading one of my CS2.3 licenses to Production Studio for the 999.00 price that I see listed. But when I looked to see how you could get there I didn’t see anything listed. I then looked to see if you could upgrade to CS2 first and then make the jump there for cheaper and it was actually more expensive to do that by like 100 bucks then just buying it. You might want to contact Adobe on the phone and see if there is something available for you. But at any rate, I’ve loved my CS2 suites for my little 2 person company. I own two copies and it was worth every penny we’ve paid over the years. Adobe rocks and their inclusion of the the Macromedia family was genius. These folks are going places to be sure.

Thanks chaps .. you’ve made me realise that it makes sense. I’m about to go back to working freelance again and money is going to be tight so ‘cost-effective’ is my by byword at the moment. Regards Roger
