Vegas 11 does not have that feature to soften edges on a mask. That’s new to Vegas 12. However, you should still be able to make the mask without any softening and it should still work fine.

Do you have version 12 of Vegas. It was a new feature in 12.
You really don’t have to soften it though although it might help.Using track motion will take that video event so you can nudge it left or right. Of course since you masked it, only the mask will show up.
So… mask a small clean area just to the left or right of your bad spot. That masked area is the area that will get nudged over and cover your smudge when using the track motion.

I’m sorry. I wasn’t clear.
1. place your event on the timeline.
2. duplicate that same event on a timeline right above it.
3. Mask the top event in a small area right next to the blur and soften it.
4. And here is what I missed. Stay on your top event and go to your “track motion” at your track level, not the event level. (The icon with the white square with the arrow and blue box next to it)and slide it to the right or left a bit until it covers your blurred area.Roger Bansemer – PaintingAndTravel.com

If you camera was on a tripod and not panning, you can duplicate the video on another track, then mask that area where the smudge is and use your pan/crop to nudge it to the right or left leaving the good sky area. I had to do this once myself.

I would open Windows explorer and do a search by typing in .VEG in your search window on the upper right of explorer. Be sure to have “computer” selected when doing your search so it searches the entire contents of your computer.
Vegas also makes a file with your “filename.veg.bac” You can remove the “.bac” from any of those and you’ll have your file again or at least one of them.Roger Bansemer – PaintingAndTravel.com

Oh, VLC player. I know of it and had it on my system but not recently. I did not know you capture, etc. with it though. I thought it was just a player.

I don’t like that A/B mode. I’m always hitting some unknown key be accident and making it appear.
