Looks good. Don’t get upset with me but what settings exactly did you use to give you that transparent checkerboard in your PI render because I think I’ve tried them all with no success.
Was it in the render that you achieved that or in a preference set up in PI?

    Hi Graham,
I thought I was clear. PI is of no use as a free download except to simply play with but it can’t be used in Vegas as a transparent overlay and the Boris tutorials made no mention of this at all. If fact they showed how to render it, etc. but as I found out after spending countless hours it simply isn’t transparent when put in Vegas without purchasing it.
I may just purchase it but it’s sure wasted a lot of time trying to just figure out this one thing.

I just emailed Boris and this is what they said:
“You would need to the paid for version of PI 2020 to allow background behind the particles for Vegas.”

Would be nice if they were to have mentioned this upfront in their tutorials instead of saying it was fully funcitional!

Thst render menu was the render menu for the standalone version of particle illusion.
It needs to be rendered out in particle illusion so I can import it into Vegas 17.
It renders out fine and I can import it but it is not transparent.

    Thanks for helping me Graham.
This is what I have on that tab and the quicktime one was checked.
    So, still no luck.

I’m not finding it. Here’s what my Particle Illusion render screen looks like.

I’m using for Partial Illusion settings:
    Presets – Prores 422
    format – quicktime movie *mov
Codec – Open H264 video encoder
    type – YUV 4-2-0 video

I’ve used about every other setting as well and I can’t get any one of these renders to become transparent even by going to “media” in Vegas and changing it to alpha.
Can’t figure out what I’m missing here.

Do you know what it takes to get a particle illusion file to be transparent when putting it in Vegas?
I’ve tried about every setting including changing the vegas properties of the event to alpha.
