I had that same sort of problem except with a small insect on the camera. I fixed it by duplicating the track above the original track and masking a small portion of the sky near the spot and on the mask make it so it has a feathered edge. Then I take the entire track and slide it to the left or right to basically duplicate a feathered portion of the sky over the offending area.

One of the Vegas features they claim is the ability closed captioning. However, it’s as close to impossible as you can get unless you have John Rofrano’s plugin called Caption Assistant.

I’ve had some of these problems in the past and found our something had gone wrong with the video I was trying to render. My solution was to render short portions throughout until it came to the portion where it messed up and wouldn’t render. Then I’ve either replaced or tried to fix that spot.
Also had issues with rendering where nothing was seemingly wrong with the video to be rendered but the only way I could render it was to again render it in small sections, then put those sections back on the timeline for a full length render.

Vegas doesn’t handle GoPro footage well at all. There is only one thing I know of and that is to put your gopro footage into the GoPro Studio which is a free download. From there you can select parts of the footage you want or all of it for that matter and then import and convert it out to an .avi format.

Freesound has a bunch of audio clips you can use for free.

First of all, if you have audio tracks with music that can be a problem. Not withstanding that, just select the portion of your video and audio by dragging your mouse over that area but be sure to drag your mouse over an area that is not inside a track otherwise it will just move that track.
Once you’ve selected your area just delete it.
Then with your auto ripple icon (the icon with the green box and arrow)set to the on position (depressed) you can move all your remaining footage on your right down to meet the footage on your left.
Hope I’m clear. I know it’s confusing if you aren’t familiar with it.The auto ripple is one of those icons that can really mess you up if you aren’t use to using it.

Thanks Steve, Stephen, and Graham (whom I talked to on skype) Looks like it is salvageable. Thanks all for your help. Sarah and I are in our RV traveling around Wisconsin and it’s quite difficult to take care of all the technical issues that come up. Being able to salvage this audio will keep us from having to shoot it again.
