  • Hi Kannisto 🙂

[Kalleheikki Kannisto] “File format seems to be a matter of opinion. I use TIFF for the most part. All three formats export as a lossless sequence, just make sure it is progressive, not interlaced.

in my experience they look the same, only that Png is much smaller so this is the advantage. is your experience showing otherwise?

[Kalleheikki Kannisto] “By localized correction I mean something like cloning something out of the image frame by frame. It will look different from frame to frame so you’ll get wild flickering in the resulting footage if you do it that way. In AE you have clone tool that automatically does the same cloning or moving-origin cloning across the footage.

You can certainly do frame by frame editing, I’m just cautioning that it may not be workable for every situation.

Yep, Ae has cloning too but Ps offers more flexibility and precise control over brushes and the ability to mix and match different techniques to patch up footage. (content aware, healing brush etc). downside is of course making each frame unike will cause noticeable jitter. you can work with Ps for frame by frame patch work only in some specific cases – thank you for making it clear.

here is a behind the scenes of a cool clip, and there was cleaning up done in photoshop to remove the rig and complete parts that were missing. I see no timeline and I believe this could help them alot to see how it actually translate to a moving sequence instead of a still: minute 1:49. in the comments they specify it was about 4,000 frames cleaned manually in photoshop frame by frame

puppet will work on one image. but there are manipulations you could use to make this transition seamless to another image. could you share a screenshot? we could know better what specific suggestions to give based on specific images.

September 15, 2016 at 11:38 pm in reply to: is this an impossible track?

it’s not the easiest track you are right about that, but I have had much worse so don’t worry about it 🙂

you should track your object and give the proper amount of information and not include the reflection or the finger. something like this would be fine. I added more pix used %:

later on you can even have this with no interruption of the hand and lower pixel used %

later on you are going to have to create another tracking matte for the thumb

at this part it get’s trickier because of an extreme perspective. you may have to manually do some work here or try giving the planar tracker more information.

here is the result. in the end it could use a little work but it’s no problem doing this manually.

here’s a good tutorial for even harder track with add to spline approach:

Now you are off to the fun part – rotoscoping of the fingers! 🙂

suggestion: would you consider making the GIF drag and drop larger? I find 3MB very small. Adobe’s forums limitation for GIF is 8mb which is too large.. would you settle for 5MB? 🙂

if you use the image upload I can upload this GIF which is 4mb and something

but drag and drop doesn’t let me. is it supposed to be different approach for the same kind of file?
