is this an impossible track?
Posted by Christian Vilderman on September 15, 2016 at 10:40 amHi
I been trying to track this with Mocha but its just not happening. I need to fill the screen with content.
There is reflections, motion blur and a lot of sudden movement.
Is it even possible? I managed to do up to 150 frames but from there its not happening.

September 15, 2016 at 10:45 amYou should get a track from the upper left part of the phone.

September 15, 2016 at 11:03 amYou do not need to use the whole screen as the tracking area. You need a plane that’s moving the same way as the screen so you could try and track only the top left part of the phone. It stays on screen and theres nothing in front of it.

September 15, 2016 at 6:54 pmThis area looks like the most probable place to give you a track.

September 15, 2016 at 11:38 pmit’s not the easiest track you are right about that, but I have had much worse so don’t worry about it 🙂
you should track your object and give the proper amount of information and not include the reflection or the finger. something like this would be fine. I added more pix used %:

later on you can even have this with no interruption of the hand and lower pixel used %

later on you are going to have to create another tracking matte for the thumb

at this part it get’s trickier because of an extreme perspective. you may have to manually do some work here or try giving the planar tracker more information.

here is the result. in the end it could use a little work but it’s no problem doing this manually.

here’s a good tutorial for even harder track with add to spline approach:
