there was an update on November. make sure it’s 14.0.1 and you are good to go. yes there are some mild bugs but 2015.3 has some too. 2017 on my Pc is great and the november fix seemed to have resolved a long overdue bug with playback on Mac. install away and enjoy and don’t mind the haters.

couldn’t you just make the path flat 3d and fake where there is altitude?

in you mean that the path is in true 3D space – you will need a plugin or script for that. the one I showed you does enable the path to be manipulated in 3D space.

Anyone has advise?H.264 has a resolution limitation of 4K. what happens when you try to render?
I would advise that unless this video is going to be played back in some designated playback system that requires this resolution, then you should probably stick with standard format. HD1080 is a good place to start. 4k won’ts stream nicely and many monitors don’t have that many pixels.

unless you are you going to move the camera in perspective and want to simulate that the stroke is not flat, I think a flat 3d path should be enough. but if so maybe this will help: you can use BAO Mask Avenger script: https://aescripts.com/bao-mask-avenger/ to generate nulls from shape/mask vertices in 3D
