weird. does it work with other type of footage?

there is another thing that’s weird and that’s your frame rate which is not standard – 47.951. this could be the cause of your problem. why is your composition set to that frame rate? is your footage also with this frame rate? if so, this is a concern. try to fix it first. how about if you render a intermediate from the mp4 such as QT Animation and then try again? with standard frame rate this time.

I have seen glitches like this and the culprit was usually the GPU. see if your graphic driver is updated. if it is, try to roll back a version

you should work in RGB and not CMYK if you are working for After Effects. change it under file->document color mode->RGB.

Stop the tracking right before the object obscures the screen, advance later in time and resume the track when it’s gone. You can also use mocha for perspective track. It’s a far more reliable corner pin tracker and It has the ability to track a surface if it’s partly obscured by the use of track mattes. of course Blending modes! I was under the impression that was obvious ???? . 4 color gradient is good advice too and it also has a blend parameter.

try to separate the effect (break it down) to different segments. it looks to me like this look was created with maybe feathered masks on solids so you could then use the tone shifting for each of them separately. I would also try instead of hue/saturation, a tone remapping effect like Colorama, see if that yields better results.

note: this is unrelated to the issue at hand but still valuable information: 13.5 is not a version you should be using. 13.5, the first version of CC2015, was one of the most buggiest versions ever made in Ae and had numerous updates for that reason. if you want to use CC2015, you should be using 13.7.1 if you are on a PC or 13.7.2 if you are on a Mac. always a good idea to use the latest update of each release.

this is one of set matte effect limitations. it is limited by the layer’s render order. the render order of Ae layers is effects then transform

meaning that if you move the layer, this process takes place after the set mette operation and not before – causing the layer to move with the matte. one workaround for this is to apply the set matte effect to collapsed layers that causes also the reverse of the render order: first transform, then effect. in your case you can click the collapse switch for the precomp

and it will work as expected i.e when you move the layer, only the layer will move and not the matte.

another workaround for this is using, as Kevin suggested, the transform effect.

now if you want to move the layer, use the transform parameters of the transform effect (and not the native transform of the layer). this way the transform operation is also preformed before the set matte operation.
