You need the right to tools for the job. Using FCP is an alternate way to work with the offspeed material.
For that kind of work we use, on location, one tape for 24p and a different one for offspeed material. Then we process it on our Panasonic Frame Rate Converter. From there you can go SDI to a NLE, HD-SDI to tape again or to a HD NLE via HD-SDI. Never have a single problem.

Hi Jan, you mean Analog HD component output (the three BNC that I connect to the PVM L5/1 monitors) for HD monitoring in the field ?

I know Fred Connors already answered this same post long time ago but there’s a difference between this one and the older post. Now I’m asking if Nona 2 would do this task but on G4 !!.

But as I understand, and specially for film out, DVCPRO HD is only an offline codec, and you should online your project in uncompressed 1920×1080 at 24 fps.

It would be very nice to hear from a Panasonic guy (Steve mate you there ?) what’s is the best workflow to work with Varicam material for film out using FCP HD or FCP 5 and both the 130DC and the 1200A.
