Also…the “fx” icon for time remapping in the effect controls is greyed out. Anyone know why that is?

I’ve been getting that and other related issues as well. It seems as though CS3 runs out of memory very easily! I have a relatively beefy system–Core 2 Duo, 2 gigs of RAM, decent video card, and I’m not throwing alot at the app.

Sorry I don’t have an answer for you, but just wanted to chime in and let you know you’re not alone!

Ok, narrowing down the problem a bit. It’s something with the specific AI file I’m trying to import. I’m able to import other AI files no problem.

I’ve also tried doing this in an entirely new project, and get the same problem.

It’s actually not that hard, but it gets tedious as you add complexity to the image and subtlety to the animation.

Essentially, what they’re doing is combining reveals using masks (for stems and vines) and scaling layers up in size for rounder objects like the flowers.

Layers magazine shows how to do a fairly basic approach using rectangular masks:

That second one took me a few viewings to digest, but after I got what he was saying, I realized that all it took was some time and caffeine to plow through it. I’m working on a similar project now. Once I finish, I’ll post some AEP’s for others to play with. I encourage others to do the same!
