Um… sorry, but what exactly, in your eyes, is the difference between the two?? The backup files are nothing other than an older version of the actual library, sans any media that may be contained within the original library, but referencing said media. I don’t see how you expect to save any space with the one or the other.
Simply consolidate all your projects and used media into the library and archive THAT. Simple.

Sorry, but that’s madness regardless of the software used. iDVD (fortunately) won’t do that for obvious reasons. You’d be left with a nasty, blocky MESS. Yes, even worse than the one you’re already getting. Even trying to put 90 mins. on a single layer would be highly questionable. If set to “Professional quality” and it says “nope”, do yourself a favor and take its word for it.

You realize of course, that pretty much every commercial DVD is a dual-layer disk (DVD9)?? Especially if you’re getting them mastered, to not be able to play it would mean you’re using a prototype player from the 90’s or something worse.

I think one needs to differentiate between thinking it is dead and thinking it’s not worth the horrendous effort (and money) it costs to keep something alive that only a tiny fraction of people even ever need. Especially when there are in fact still fully functional authoring solutions out there.

The exact same goes for BD, so that’s not actually a factor that plays into the decision.

Huh? If you upload HD, you get HD. All the way up to 4K even. Be it YouTube, Vimeo or any other of the top streaming sites. And I don’t see how distributing DVDs gets anywhere near the simplicity of distributing online. Not to mention the exponentially higher quality that goes with it.

Been using El Capitan and Motion since the beta even. Works just fine. You might want to try trashing your prefs by holding ⌥⌘ when you start.
And no version of OS X can or will install itself. Even if it downloaded itself, you would still have to confirm the install. So there’s no way you could have turned on your computer and “there it was”.

I would simply use PARAMETER behaviors on position and scale in that case. Or yes, you could put one on the layer and the other on the group.

Depends entirely on the behaviors, which parameters they control, HOW they are applied etc. Obviously some will cancel each other out.

I guessing the latter. 😉 It’s simple math actually. Say for example you have six HD (1920×1080) layers. If you wanted them all to be positioned horizontally so that they touch edge to edge, you’d simply position one at (+ or -) 9600 pixels of another, with all the others somewhere in-between or simply on top of each other. Then simply select Alignment -> Distribute Horizontal Centers and bingo… all lined up. If you want a space between them, you simply up the 9600 by whatever you need.
