Glad it went well… HDX900 is a good swissarmy knife camera.. good for freelancers.. and way cheaper than F900R… you can also shoot slo-mo in 720p mode ie shoot at 50p for 25p

Yes I have the Olympus LS10… which is very good. I should have been more precise in my post,I meant as last resort,sudden need using the iphone just for ambient sound.

Watch out for the wind too.. if its a big screen..you,ll need some serious stands.. weights etc

Something that cant be done on a film camera!
Ive being setting the gamma to .55 a fair bit these days.. do you phutz with gamma much?

Yes a bit confusing when you first use HDX or Varicam..
The half shutter means its giving you a 180 degree shutter angle for what ever you have set the camera for… ie a half.. so at 25p half shutter is 1/50th.. just saves you having to work it out yourself.As far as i know anyway !!
And in theory replicating a film camera.. sometimes I,ll switch it off if I need a bit more stop.. as long as not alot of action in the scene its fine..

Ok sorry.. I didnt think anyone had thought they needed to send their camera to Japan,from the previous postings.Just it had to be sent to Panasonic rather than a third party company/agent.

Yes the camera doesnt have to go back to the factory in Japan! Iam in Japan thats all.And so Burbank would be a long way from Tokyo.. 🙂

surprised to hear that.There is the same thread on B roll .com and a guy in the US just had it done for free.. I think he is in Florida.
Pana here in Japan are 100% doing the change over for free. -
Yes they will for sure.
I was told in Tokyo that my camera would have to be sent to Osaka.. where Pana has their pro camera factory.. But I wasnt too sure about just sending it… dont like the idea really.. so would have to take it down there myself but would cost about $400 on the train..
