I think it was before 2009.. it was also shot HD… but I guess either 24P or 30P… which led to viewer complaints… they maybe now also shoot progressive but probably 60p.. to give a live look..

I believe the same happened to the MTV awards one year being shot in 24p.. loads of complaints.. that it didnt look live..?
Does seem to be some physiological conditioning .. or just what people have got used to seeing movies /drama and sports events.. looking different..?

Yes I have a nanoflash that has worked well with the HDX900.. but its XDCAM 422HD codex.. not DVCpro HD or AVC100.. but you can record up to 200 or more Mbps.. if you want to..

But if someone requests P2.. you might not be able to sell the HDX + Nano solution..

    Hi Mark

Yes if your making your own films, and they sell or do whatever they are meant to to make yourself a living I would go for the 2700 for sure.. a step up from the Sony you mention for sure.. if the price is the same with trade in..

    Hi Jeff

Yes sometimes get asked for 720.. I,ll still have my HDX900 for that I hope..! I seem mostly asked for 1080.. and again the HDX900 has mostly been acceptable .. but sense lately esp a move to native 1080..
Which has meant renting an F900R.. a pain and expensive..
But I need a tapeless camera I guess sooner than later.. I thought P2 had sort of died a bit.. and I heard alot of people saying Pana might have made a mistake with going totally P2.. but this year seems to be a resurgence of P2.. AVC100 also been requested a few times..

So still not totally sure but think I,ll go P2 and not XDCAM 800.. I just dont get any request for it..
And I like the Pana look too.. wish I,d been around for the 15yrs of betcam when the choices werent so hard 🙂 just got my 400AP right at the end of betacam.. great timing as usual !

Thanks for the feed back.. Ive pretty much decided that its “safer” to go for the 3700.. shame about the over crank.. but Iam not doing that every second shot.. and could throw on my nanoflash.. better the directors stills camera!.

Love the idea of the no moving parts camera.. and have a feeling 1080p will become the next standard spec for Natgeo/Dis/BBC etc.
very odd to allow tape Varicam but not 2700.. not sure that the powers to be at Natgeo are that concerned about freelancers with tape camera,s ???? 🙂

Have to get to grips with the down loading thing.. heard there is some new box coming out in Oct that makes life easier..
