Dont think its that deep TBH.. just the cycle of whats the latest “in ” look.. having the key light on the wrong side of an interview.. is different.. but it plain simply does look good.. or just lighting totally flat.. sure will work as an effect shot with a particular back ground in a drama etc.. but for these things.. why light it badly ?? no ones going to be put off a product just to have a decent key/fill ratio.. .. thats nuts..

Yes well could be.. but the OP talks about great lighting,no shadows and great skin tones.. there is no footage of any product..
Even so.. I would still voice my opinion,and ofcourse its only mine.. that I thought the lighting was not great and that shadows are part of lighting,and the skin tone didnt look good.. not a dig at the DP.. Iam sure he/she can do great work.. and I would think he/she was forced into lighting in this style.. either by the stills look that have already been shot.. or some other creative director who wanted that look.. its happened to me too.. 🙁 -
Would Rembrandt be famous if he painted with the window right behind him.. not rocket science.. just looks nicer..

Zacuto do a very good EVF.. from the HDMI plug.. which is ofcourse the weak point .. a few companies have been clever and seen a market for EVF with these camera,s that can be used for profession work,but still have the pro sumer design.. ( manufacturers just being able to use the parts they already make..) ie Eye piece right where you dont want it..

It seems there is much more a difference between doc camera,s and drama/commercial camera,s in the video world now.. eg F900R used alot on doc,s and also drama.. even feature films with a bit PL mount lenses. etc..
Alexa /F3 etc with all the bells and whistles primes etc.. great camera,s for sure.. but far from idea for the average doc shoot.. let alone the budgets needed to hire this gear..
So I think basically you are going to need two camera,s if you do doc and drama shoots.. a 2/3 inch chip 3CCD camera with a decent HD wide angle zoom.. Pana 3700 or Sony XDCAM 800 probably being the main work horses as I know it..

I would carry all or at least some of your bulbs hand carry .. LHR baggage handlers aren,t famous for being dainty with gear .. fragile stickers or not.. VAT is 20% now too !!! color temp wise you should be fine.. UK is actually 240V and most of Europe 220V

Short answer.. yes massive area,s you have no hope to light.. go with whats available .. no choice.. ok to mix color balances..(but have a decent monitor)
Get the school to buy a reflector.. very cheap.. use it or small lights for the close ups .. avoid night shoots 🙂

Is it a sort of Saving Private Ryan .. Look.. ? this was on purpose shot with 90 degree shutter.. I think.. or there abouts.. at 24 frames .. to give that stutter effect..

Iam no expert with post.. I just shoot.. how does the footage replay in the camera.. I,d think this would be the acid test if its a camera setting .. or import or even NLE/playback setting
As per your question.. again I dont know that much of the post side of the industry.. but I would think if its a camera setting its probably a pretty permeant one.. but I could be wrong there.. -
do you have the shutter on ? how does it play back in the camera ? then you can establish if its a camera setting or import setting..
