dont get too panic stricken 🙂 just an hour at the rental with some one will sort it all out.. most you dont change anyway.. you have to decide your recording format .. pretty basic.. if shooting progressive go for the ‘Half” setting for your shutter.. it gives you 180 degree shutter what ever mode your in .. if shooting interlaced you dont need it.. except for getting rid of flicker from lights or screens..
Seems daunting at first but maybe even less than an hour and you will see its not that hard..

Its the ext switch just above on/off power switch.. at the front ie towards the lens..

As John says.. if your not running tape.. you will ofcourse have to hit record on the nano.. or get a remote cable.. set the nano to trigger-record & remote.. remote cable is more convenient

TBH I havnt noticed a massive difference shooting tape and nano or just nano as far as battery life goes..with a HDX900 anyway..

You may have to do Blk balance a few times.. also close the close right down to blk and see if you see a tiny white spot..

Dirt on the front element is more lively to be like a smudge.. than a tiny pin point.. and only show on wide angle..

Longer the lens and wider open the aperture will make focus more critical ..

When the subject is 60 feet away the focus will be less critical till the subject is close by..

So you could start wide -ish.. hopefully with a large stop F11.. F16 if the camera will take it.. and then focus will hold quite a while.. if the subject is running all the better.. I,d pull your own focus.. if it goes soft right at the end its fine and can look pretty good..

If they are going to walk from 60 feet away.. its going to be a very long shot anyway.. and you could get away with breaking it up editing wise by having some handheld walking with the subject.. etc

Or fly in a features focus puller on $2,000 a day :)..

If you plan to do alot of shooting in your studio.. may also be an idea to invest in thick black curtains for the windows… that will help alot.. even if it means more lighting..
Probably also worth renting a half decent camera.. should make things look better..

He may want 25p.. also PAL format.. watch for flicker from light sources /screens.. as your shooting 50Hz in a 60 Hz environment .. shutter will get rid of 60hz flicker..
