    Hi there

    I have Shotput pro on a Mac book pro.. which I use for downloading nanoflash CF card footage.. to an ext HDD.. works like a dream.. can i do the same with 7D footage CF cards.. shooting 1080/1920 /25p.. what codec are the files..? should I copy over the whole folder or just the video.. whole folder I suspect ?

    Dont have the camera so cant check myself..

    Yes, it will work just fine with the 7D.

    It’s always best to copy the whole volume. It’s not much extra data, but will maintain the original file structure should you need it.

    The 7D creates QuickTime MOV files using the H264 codec.

    Always, always, copy the entire folder. If you use Final Cut, you’ll need the extra data to transfer the footage. Otherwise it may not read your video files and you’ll have to spend more time transcoding.

    Just for clarity: that’s not strictly true.

    Whilst I agree it’s best to copy the entire volume, if you have the latest version of the Canon EOS movie plug-in it allows you to import from any folder on your computer. It does not need the original CF card data hierarchy.
