Nope. Adding memory doesn’t decrease rendering times. Only a computer with a faster CPU will decrease rendering times

Sweet. This plug-in is allowing me to view the clips in Quicktime, however, it is only showing a blank white screen when viewed in FCP. Is this because I’ve only downloaded the trial version at this point? It says on their site that V1.1.0 “no longer loads in Final Cut Pro, SoundTrack Pro, LiveType, DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, Color, Cinema Tools”
Also, when you say it won’t be rt in FCP, Jeremy, do you mean that it just won’t play back in real-time, but once I export my timeline (most likely DVCPro HD) everything will play just fine?

Not that I’m a big shot colorist, but:
Colorista is nice for those who want a nice look but don’t want to know the ins and outs of color grading. It’s a plug in…
Color is more flexible as it has 8 secondaries rooms, for a total of 16 possible corrections.
Color also has the color fx room where you work with nodes, further customizing your look.
Color is targeted toward highly experienced, professional colorist

I get this sometimes. I just hide FCP by pressing Command + H and then bring it back by hitting Command + Tab.
I guess it’s sort of annoying, but nothing’s perfect

are you talking about linking a video clip to an audio clip? Highlight both the video and audio clips you want to link together, then press Command + L. When they’re linked, the file names of those clips in the timeline will be underlined

If you want layers unaffected by the camera, put those layers in a group (or groups) and make sure they’re 2D groups. The camera only affects 3D groups.

You want to mask out the background, which can be tough.
FCP isn’t the right tool. The best it has for this is the 8-point garbage mask, which isn’t good enough for what you want to do.
I would make a freeze frame in FCP just as a place holder, so you can figure out how long you want it to be. Then just export that frame and bring it into Photoshop. Cut out the background and add an alpha channel. Bring it back into FCP. It won’t be hard to match up since you already made a freeze frame as a place holder.

I’m assuming you want to work in a 29.97 timeline, so go with the second workflow.

Understand that 60p does not become slow mo until you make it slo mo in Cinema Tools. If you dropped 60p footage into a 29.97 timeline, you’re 60p footage would NOT become slow mo. FCP just skips every other frame of that clip.
