November 10, 2010 at 12:27 amBoth great tools. Personally I think color grading is better done in a dedicated tool with dedicated controls, keyboard shortcuts, interface etc., and so I tend to prefer Color. That said, going to Color takes more time and effort, so if it’s a quick in-and-out project, Colorista can create equally good looks.

Colorista is nice for those who want a nice look but don’t want to know the ins and outs of color grading. It’s a plug in…
Color is more flexible as it has 8 secondaries rooms, for a total of 16 possible corrections.
Color also has the color fx room where you work with nodes, further customizing your look.
Color is targeted toward highly experienced, professional colorist
that’s all I got.

Same question 10 days ago. The only point to add is that in my workflow, I am considering Colorista to do stills which Color doesn’t handle.
