July 22, 2012 at 3:39 pm in reply to: Converting Canon t2i footage to edit in Vegas pro 9Don’t know if Epic is supported in Vegas 10, but then you don’t need it since V10 is really optimized to handle DSLR footage.
Just drop your footage on the timeline and edit, that’s it!

July 18, 2012 at 1:05 am in reply to: Vegas crashes with Boris Red5 and .veg file just disappears…Hi Carlos,
I have been running an expired demo of RED 5 for quite a while now and have the same problems as you do. I did mention this problem months ago over at BorisFX Forum for which they said they would investigate about my problem but never got any feedback.
If you are inside RED 5, it will crash when Vegas autosaves. Then your .veg gets renamed to .veg.tmp
Unfortunately I have given up on RED 5 as this made RED 5 unusable.
Here is the link to the thread I started:

In the case of the BCC8 Lens Flare 3D filter, long is meaningless as I pointed out earlier, only I did believe it was triggerred by a long project just like in the case of the Sony Color Curves settings not showing up. Are these two problems interrelated, I don’t know but thought I would point it out.
A long project, in this case, is some two hours with several mixed FX on half of the events with mixed DSLR and EX1 footage.

Same problem here using Vegas 11 64-bit an BCC8 Lens Flare 3D, no XY box on a long project.
Quick test I just did, if I open up a new Vegas session and drop one event with BCC8 Lens Flare 3D, the XY box will show up but if I just add a Sony Color Corrector FX, the XY box in BCC8 is gone.I also have a problem with the Sony Color Curves (non-ofx) where no settings will show up in it’s window on long projects. Reading Stephen Mann’s previous post, I do get a feeling Vegas 11 has problems with long projects while V10 could handle them without any issues.

March 29, 2012 at 6:20 pm in reply to: BCC 8 – Pixel Chooser for Lens Flare, LF Advanced & LF 3D (Sony Vegas)Hi Peter,
Several days ago, I did try out the Lens Flare 3D with Obscuration, very nice BTW, but unfortunately it doesn’t solve my problem.I basically want to add the lens flare on text and various shapes and have control over the spill of my flares and the Pixel Chooser/PC Matte would of been the perfect tool for this IMO.
I can still do it a the track level in Vegas, but it doesn’t give me as much freedom and flexibility as the Pixel Chooser would.
Not knowing how much work that involves on your side, if you could at least include PC with the Lens Flare Advanced plugin, that would be a great!
Thanks for helping

Thanks Mike but I wonder if Device Explorer can join shots as one continuous event, which it might.
I never use it because it renames all my footage and therefore I prefer keeping the camera’s naming structure which is also shorter.
And I don’t even bother grouping long shots together.I usually search my SD cards for .mp4 footage and drag them on the timeline, trim on the timeline and edit. This is what I like about Vegas: you make up your own workflow!

March 21, 2012 at 12:19 am in reply to: BCC V8 For Vegas out – BUT no Optical Image Stabilization??Thanks for the list James but BCC 3 Way Color Grade filter isn’t listed.
I know they had host problems with it so I am still wondering if it will make it in BCC 8.01?

Gilles, .mxf or .mp4 are the same in quality.
Only when the EX1 was out, you couldn’t import .mp4 footage into Vegas and you needed to convert it to .mxf
In the latest versions, Vegas handles the .mp4 footage from the EX1, with no conversion.
